Amata Corporation Public Company Limited, led by Chairman Mr. Vikrom Kromadit, has officially commenced construction on Amata Smart & Eco City Namor in northwestern Oudomxay Province, Lao PDR. The project, developed through Amata City Lao Company Limited, follows a concession agreement signed with the Lao government in 2022.
Spanning 31.5 sq. km (19,000 rai), with an initial phase covering 9.6 sq. km, the city is designed as a high-tech industrial estate integrating smart and eco-friendly solutions to drive economic sustainability. Strongly backed by Thai and international partners, the development aims to serve as a model for sustainable, innovation-driven urban and industrial growth.
Strategically located, Amata Smart & Eco City Namor offers direct access to key transport networks. It sits next to Namor railway station on the China-Laos railway and is adjacent to planned expressways linking Laos with China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Recognized as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the city provides unmatched investment incentives, making it one of the most attractive locations for industrial expansion in Laos and the region. Amata’s long-term vision includes developing 200 sq. km in Laos, with an initial investment of USD 500 million (over 17 billion baht).
During Amata’s 50th anniversary celebration, Mr. Sonprasert Dalavong, Director General of SEZ under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Lao PDR, emphasized the project’s role in advancing economic development, innovation, and sustainable industry. He highlighted that the city would serve as both a high-tech industrial hub and a model for environmentally responsible urban development.
Mr. Vikrom Kromadit stated, “Amata Smart & Eco City marks the beginning of a transformative shift—not just for Laos, but for the entire region—by merging modern industrial development with advanced technology and environmental responsibility.”
With a commitment to fostering prosperity and sustainability, Amata Smart & Eco City Namor will feature high-tech industries, a dry port, ready-built factories, mixed-use zones, and an eco-friendly sector—all within a country ranked among the world's friendliest (Laos placed 3rd globally in 2021).
